Ohio Racetracks That No Longer Run

Beulah Park in Grove City and Raceway Park in Toledo both stopped racing in 2014. Ohio finished that year with more gaming floors than it started with, because the video lottery licences attached to those tracks were portable and went to purpose-built facilities elsewhere in the state.

That is why a visitor can stand in a racino whose gaming floor and grandstand are barely a decade old, in a county where racing itself goes back generations, and why the founding year of a racino and the founding year of the track beside it are two different facts.

What Is Still Running

Seven Ohio racetracks still hold video lottery terminal licences and still race, on calendars independent of their gaming floors. Four run harness racing and three run thoroughbred. The venues still operating are listed on the Ohio casinos and racinos page.
